On this Auspicious day , I am publishing the recipe of Chakkarai Pongal which is one of the traditional food in Tamil Nadu.
Lets See how to make it.
Raw Rice – 250 grams(1 Cup)
Jaggery – 200 Grams
Cashews – As required
Raisins – As required
Cardamom Powder – half spoon
Ghee – 50 Grams
Water – 3 cup
Preparation method :
Cook the Soaked rice with 3 cup of water and allow it to cook for 3 whistles. Once its done , Open the cooker and mash the rice .
On the other side, add 1/4 tumbler of water in the vessel and add the powdered jaggery and mix it well for 10 minutes in medium flame. Don’t let the the syrup be so thick. once it ‘s done, filter the Syrup and keep it aside.
Add the syrup in cooked rice and stir it gently under low flame.
Roast Cashews, Raisins by using ghee (50 grams) till it turns golden brown then add the same to the rice along with cardamom powder and mix it well for 5 minutes.
Now the delicious Pongal is ready:-)
